Day 38 - Tue, Nov 12 - Austin to Bestrop (Texas)

Andre

Major disappointment today!

I was all excited to go to the Tesla Gigafactory for the tour. When I got there, I had to wait in line, which wasn’t a problem, but when I finally reached the front of the line I was told that unless I had an invitation, I would not be permitted to join the tour. One can only be invited as an employee, or a friend or family member of an employee.

It was a big letdown for me, as I was really looking forward to this tour. Highly annoyed and upset, I just got back onto my bike and started peddling east again. It took a few miles for me to calm down.

Once I calmed down, I started noticing the countryside again and how different it was from the desert areas that I’ve been in. Tons of agriculture and livestock. I was very excited when I came upon a farm that had Texas longhorn cattle. I saw a bull with the longest horns I had ever seen. Needless to say, I had to stop and take some pictures.

I had a great encounter with a dog. I was riding along and came across a place where there were several dogs all barking at me. Some of them were chained, but most were running loose. I decided to take it easy. I was a little concerned that they might start chasing me. One of them was fairly close to me. I stopped and told the dog to "stop that nonsense and come over for a pat". Much to my amazement and amusement the dog did stop barking and came walking over sniffing the bike sniffing me, and I patted it as promised. The dog turned around and went back to its mates and the barking stopped. I said goodbye to all of them and got on my way again.
